Three Arks

The first Ark came during Noah’s time.  Those days were not different than today; evilness prevailed throughout the land.  In another word, man does what is right in his own eyes, yet God is in charge and no matter what is looks like to the physical eye, God sees for his eye is spiritual thus he see the righteous and the unrighteous.  God has a plan for all.

These are the generations of Noah:  Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:9, Key Bible KJV)

Do not misunderstand perfect.  Here the word means completeness.  Scripture does tell us there is none perfect except Jesus; however, this does not mean Noah is or was sinless.

Scripture states, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” (Genesis 6:11, Key Bible KJV)  Noah lived in a violent world yet Noah walked with God. “And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.” (Genesis 6:12, Key Bible KJV)

“And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark; and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. (Genesis 6:13, 14 Key Bible KJV).  Consider man of today and ask the question; is man any different now than during Noah’s time?  God did not overlook Noah, and through Noah, his family became the benefactors of God’s grace. All flesh corrupted but Noah’s family. When all about to be destroyed God’s offers his plan of salvation (the ark). “The ark is a floating building so in cover the only word for “atonement” in the Old Testament; so that it is only atonement that can keep the waters of judgment from us.” (Companion Bible)

The second was the Ark of the Covenant.  The first piece of the tabernacle’s furniture for which precise directions were delivered; it appears to be an oblong chest. “Its purpose was to contain inviolate the divine autograph of the two tables that “covenant” from which it derived its title.” (Smith’s Bible Dictionary) The Ark was carried by the Kohathites. (Numbers 7:9; 10:21) Anyone other than those permitted by God who touched the Ark, the judgment was instant death for God is not a respecter of persons.

When the Ark was carried into battle, it symbolized the power of God.  It had no magical or special power, though the heathen nations thought it did.  Nations viewed the Ark as an idol and when it was captured, they soon realized its only value to them is God’s people did not possess it.  Although after a period, the Ark disappeared.  It is my belief God now has it in a safe place.

The third and final Ark is the Christian.  Christians are shaped and fashioned after Jesus and given the power of the Holy Spirit who teaches and guides us in all things concerning the gospel.  What is the gospel? The gospel is the good news.  What is the good news? The Kingdom is the good news.

Just like the first two Arks, we are given instructions; “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son; and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28: 19, 20 Key Bible KJV)

Christians have the light of God’s glory through Jesus Christ.  When we are approaching darkness, the manifestation of God’s glory precedes us.  This Ark is also known as the “Great Commission; empowered by Jesus to do the work until He returns to give us rest. Obedience is better than sacrifice, thus, there is nothing Jesus requires except that and one can choose to disobey.  There are many who talk about God, yet, there are few who serve Jesus.  Choose wisely your life depends on it.
