King Jehoshaphat
There came a time in our lives when we received dreadful news that launched us into such fear it knotted our stomachs. Forces came upon us in such a way we knew defeat is a certainty.
King Jehoshaphat was confronted with dreadful news. "Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying. There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar, which is Engedi. And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah." (2 Chron 20: 2,3)
The king feared, he sought the Lord, and proclaimed a fast. Often we fear, run, and try to fight the battle ourselves. Usually once one becomes accustom to losing they will immediately give up when faced with what seems to be a losing cause.
King Jehoshaphat knew the battle is Gods and with such an immovable faith, God's people didn't have to fight, God took care of their enemies.
When we are faced with dreadful news do what the king did. He praised God for the victory. "So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about." (2 Chron 20:30)
