Defining Moments
Our Christian lifestyle defines who we are in Christ. We who have accepted Jesus as Lord of our lives defines the moment we became separated from a life in darkness. Perhaps at one point in our lives we were not associated with what a surrendered life is not.
A surrendered life is not giving up its' giving in to Christ taking complete charge of our lives. When God led Moses and the Israelites out of bondage to crossing a divided Red Sea on dry ground was a defining moment in their lives.
They did not know before hand how God was going to save them from Pharaoh's charging Army; yet when Moses stretch forth his arms with his staff in hand the power of God manifested in the parting of the Sea and they cross over on dry land safe and secure.
When we are faced with uncontrollable circumstances in our lives do we fall in the sea of despair or do we call on God and trust he will make a way when there seems no way just as the Israelites had a defining moment in their lives. We as humans have a controlling nature that we can fix our circumstances. Somehow our fix doesn't last, but the clay in the Potter's hand defines our circumstances and change despair into hope, trust, faith and a changed lifestyle; in short we are transformed and a testimony of God's awesome power defining who we are in Christ.
God never intended for us to be comfortable on earth. This is why no matter how much we think we are capable of changing our defining moments we relentlessly strive in the wrong direction, and often we give up hope because if we can see it, its' not hope. In Romans Paul says why hope for what we can see, then it is no longer hope.
Service to our fellow man is a life Jesus led when he walked among the people, his surrendered life to our Father in heaven defined his obedience. Without sin He fulfilled his mission. He showed us how its' done.

Amen. Many of your points resonate with my personal experiences, but more importantly, with Scripture. "Faith is the substance of things not seen."
